MattDotZeb Goes Into Hiding Amidst Controversy at GameTyrant Expo

Matthew “MattDotZeb” Zaborowski has reportedly gone into hiding at his mountainside estate in Montana following backlash from William “Leffen” Hjelte at the recent GameTyrant Expo 2017 (GTX.)

The 25-year-old tournament organizer of GTX was put under scrutiny after allegations arose from Hjelte, who claimed there were scheduling issues and problems with stream matches. MattDotZeb ultimately decided that a retreat to his $22 million dollar mansion in Montana was the best way to get out of the public spotlight.

“I had a similar situation back in August with Shine 2017, and I made the mistake of staying in New England after the incident,” Zaborowski said, “This time I’m just gonna relax in the hot tub and enjoy the autumn weather until the controversy dies down.”

Some users on the /r/SmashBros subreddit claim that Leffen is overreacting as a response to his loss to Oscar “Lovage” Nilsson at GTX, while others stand with Leffen’s position that MattDotZeb is a corrupt tournament organizer hellbent on undermining the fabric of the Super Smash Brothers Melee community and  exploiting it for his own personal gain.

This group of Reddit users cite that simply owning a $22 million dollar estate is evidence that Zaborowski is rigging the system and arranging upsets in advance to put the tournaments he runs at the top of news headlines. They also note that his Montana estate is just one of three multi-million dollar estates purchased by Zaborowski in the past three years, with the other two being located in Florida ($37.2 million) and New Hampshire ($4.6 million.)

Zaborowski declined to comment at his mountainside residence, waving reporters away with one hand and holding a glass of Krug Vintage Brut Champagne in the other.
