After a year-long journey training Cloud9’s superstar Melee player Joseph ‘Mang0’ Marquez, script-writer Daniel ‘Tafokints’ Lee has announced his departure from the organization. The announcement was made on Friday, March 30th through a livestream which explained the motivation behind his move. Not announced officially, Tafo has also stepped down from his role of script writer.
“Between working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab and basically full-time script writing for Melee, my schedule was actually at a point where I knew I had to make a change. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to commit myself to writing an entertaining script for this year’s summer of Smash,” Tafo said.
The script writing council has been hard done by departures from the likes of Bobby “Scar” Scarnewman, Wynton “Prog” Smith, and now Tafokints. While the move may seem arbitrary at best, tournament results weigh heavily on the members of the script writing council, and with each of these now-alumni members standing heavily in the corner of Mang0, expect to see a wide variance of tournament results in the coming months.
“Now that Tafo’s out, we can literally do anything we want. Me and MattDotZeb are totally gonna take over now. It’s time for Silent Wolf to come back and biff these kids,” said Kris “Toph” Aldenderfer.
Tafokints now has his sights set on CLG, where he is due to become the organization’s Business Developer, working to build relationships with sponsors and advance the esports industry as a whole.
With a vacuum now left in the script writing team, the council has already narrowed it’s candidates for the position down to Fauster, Crush, or TACO (CS:GO). The implications of the new writer will greatly impact the future of Melee, so stay with the Turnip to receive updates.
